8 Ball Clash is 8-ball pool with real table physics. The balls roll, slide and spin the way they do on cloth: hit the cue ball low and it draws back, hit it high and it follows through, add side and it changes the angle off the cushion. Balls can even rattle in the jaws of a tight pocket.

Play the computer at three tables — Rookie Hall, City Club and Master's Lounge — each with a coin entry fee and a prize pot for the winner. Spend what you win in the Pro Shop on cues and table cloths, or choose Two Players and play a friend on the same device. It's free, with nothing to download. Coins are play money only.

How to play

How to play 8-ball pool: the rules

Break from behind the head string. Pot a ball or drive four balls to a cushion, or it's a foul.
The table is open after the break. The first ball you pot makes that group yours: solids (1–7) or stripes (9–15).
On every shot, hit one of your own balls first, then pot a ball or send a ball to a cushion. Pot one of yours and you shoot again.
A foul — potting the cue ball, hitting the wrong ball first, missing everything or no cushion — gives your opponent ball in hand anywhere on the table.
Clear your group, call a pocket and pot the 8 there to win. Pot the 8 early, in the wrong pocket or with a foul, and you lose.

Drag on the table Aim — the cue follows your finger or mouse.
Power bar Drag it down to pull the cue back, let go to shoot.
Spin ball Tap where the tip should strike: top for follow, bottom for draw, left or right for side.
Drag the cue ball Place it when you have ball in hand.
Left Right A D Turn the aim; hold Shift for fine aim.
Up Down W S More or less power.
Space Enter Shoot.

Tips & tricks

Pool tips: think one shot ahead

Play for position. Potting the ball is half the shot; the other half is where the cue ball stops. Use draw to bring it back and follow to push it on.
Stun on straight shots. A firm hit just below centre stops the cue ball dead — the safest way not to follow a ball into the pocket.
Break your clusters early. Two of your balls frozen together are trouble later; split them while you still have other shots.
Leave the 8 near a pocket. Don't knock it onto a cushion where it's hard to pot when you need it.
Play safe when you must. No good pot? Hit one of yours softly and leave the cue ball behind a ball, so your opponent has nothing.
