About Web Trap

Web Trap is a free area-capture arcade game in the spirit of the classics Qix, Xonix and JezzBall — rebuilt for your browser with a social twist. You play a spider walking the rim of a web. Dart into the danger zone to weave a silk trail, close a loop, and that slice of the board becomes yours. Trap the bugs inside your loop to crush them, but never let one touch your trail. Capture enough of the web to clear the level.

There are 1,000 hand-tuned levels that climb from gentle to fiendish (with relaxing easy levels sprinkled after the hard ones), escalating bug counts and speeds, and a coin reward for every level you beat. And the best part: you can create your own level from any picture and share it with friends — they have to beat the game to reveal your image.

How to play

  1. Walk the rim. Your spider moves safely along the captured edge of the web.
  2. Draw into the open space. Head inward to leave a silk trail across the danger zone.
  3. Close the loop. Return to captured ground and the area you fenced off is captured — and any bug sealed inside is crushed.
  4. Back out to stay safe. Reverse along your own trail to erase it and retreat from danger.
  5. Reach the goal. Capture the required share of the web (shown on the bar) to win the level.

Controls

  • Hold an arrow key to move; release to stop. WASD works too.
  • Reverse Hold back along your trail to erase it and escape an oncoming bug.
  • Drag On a phone, drag on the board to steer — or use the on-screen pad.

Create & share your own level

This is what makes Web Trap a social game. Upload any picture — a photo, a meme, a hidden message — pick a difficulty and how many bugs guard it, and you get a unique shareable link. Send it on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook or anywhere, and your friends can only reveal the image by beating your level. Come back to your link any time to see how many people played and finished it.

Tips & tricks

  • Carve small. Slicing off a thin strip when the bugs are elsewhere is the safest way to bank progress.
  • Corner the bugs. Wait for a bug to drift into a tight space, then seal it off to crush it and shrink the danger zone.
  • Mind the fast ones. On later levels each bug is quicker than the last — watch the speediest before committing to a long line.
  • Don't over-extend. The deeper your trail, the longer you're exposed. Short, frequent loops beat one risky sweep.
  • Use reverse. If a bug lines up with your trail, back out to erase it rather than gambling on the dash home.

Why players love Web Trap

Area-capture games have a uniquely tense, satisfying loop — every line you draw is a small gamble, and watching the board fill in is its own reward. Web Trap keeps that classic feel and adds modern hooks: crush-the-bug strategy, a 1,000-level journey with coins to chase, and a creative, social layer where a simple picture becomes a challenge you dare your friends to beat. It's free, instant in any browser on phone or desktop, and just as fun for a quick break as it is for a long high-score run.
