Block Drop Classic is a falling blocks game in the tradition of the great block-stacking puzzles: seven shapes, a well ten squares wide, and rows that vanish the moment you fill them. If you’re after a Tetris-style game you can play free in your browser, this is it — our own version, with no download and no account.

It plays the way modern players expect: a ghost piece shows where each block will land, hold saves a piece for later, hard drop slams it home, and wall kicks let you slide pieces into tight spots — including T-spins. Choose Marathon to survive as long as you can, race Sprint 40 lines against the clock, score as much as possible in Ultra 2:00, or learn at half speed in Gentle.

The falling-block puzzle first appeared in 1984 and has barely aged since. It’s a perfect loop: every piece is a tiny decision, every cleared row is a small reward, and the speed-up means there’s always another level to reach. Sprint and Ultra turn it into a competition against yourself, and Gentle mode makes it a relaxing block puzzle online for anyone just learning. Tetromino pieces fall into the well one at a time. Move and turn each one before it lands.
Fill a complete row across the well and it clears; everything above drops down.
Clear several rows at once for more points — four rows at once scores the most.
Every ten lines the level rises and the pieces fall faster.
The game ends when a new piece has nowhere to go.

Tips & tricks

Block stacking tips: from beginner to T-spin

Keep the stack flat. A flat surface fits every shape; tall towers and deep holes don’t.
Leave one column open. Build up the other nine and save a straight piece for a four-row clear.
Trust the ghost piece. It shows exactly where the block will land — use hard drop instead of waiting.
Hold with a plan. Park the straight piece for your open column, or hold an awkward shape until there’s room for it.
Learn one T-spin. Build a T-shaped slot with an overhang and turn the T in at the last moment — it scores like a four-row clear.
