Your original photo is never put on the web. We build a scrambled copy — the same picture with its pieces shuffled — and that is the only thing a player's browser downloads, so opening it directly just shows a jumble. The picture is reassembled a piece at a time, in the browser, as it is solved. It is not a vault, but nobody sees your photo by simply poking around.

No. Loose pieces show only a soft blur of colour, and each piece sharpens only once it is in exactly the right place.
Keep it friendly. Every upload is checked automatically and explicit images are blocked; anything inappropriate that slips through can be removed.
Nine is a quick tease, thirty is a proper sit-down puzzle. Pick fewer pieces if your picture has large plain areas.
